It's hump day

Welcome to the first Wednesday of June. It's a perfect day to catch some day baseball. There's no NHL or NBA Finals today, and we've got several afternoon MLB games on the schedule.

Just another solid reminder that summer has arrived.

We're also on day four of eight straight Screencaps with me manning the ship and I have to say we're rolling along nicely. The grilling season content has been awesome.

We've got some of it to hit today. Keep it coming. Send me your meats sean.joseph@outkick.com.

There's nothing better than clearing your weekend schedule by laying stripes on Thursdays, then firing up the grill and enjoying some perfectly cooked meat over the weekend.

Alright, the coffee is starting to kick in, so let's get this hump day moving along.

Update on the washing your feet debate

On Sunday's Screencaps I shared how Jason Kelce got called out on X for being a guy who "looks like he doesn't wash his legs or feet." He responded to the accusations by taking it to "Big Soap."

He said "What kind of weirdo washes their feet…." before going after the soap industry. Kelce added in a follow-up post, "All of you have been fed diabolical lies that washing every crevice of your bodies and hair, all the time is somehow better or healthier."

"Any dermatologist not in bed with Big Soap will agree!! Hot spots are all that is necessary and actually leads to cleaner healthier skin."

I admitted - and stand by it - that sometimes I wash the important parts and let the soap do the rest of the work, washing my legs and feet as it makes its way down the drain. I'm also a weirdo who washes his legs and feet some of the time.

Now there's someone in the soap industry who is going after Kelce. Her name is Cynthia Jennings, and she owns her own organic/natural soap company.

She's not a fan of Big Soap either, but is out here talking to TMZ about bacteria that could lead to death in very rare cases from not washing your feet.

Classic scare tactic here. She evidently missed the part about letting the soap run down the body and cleanse the legs and feet before it makes its way down the drain.

That's how this all works. You hit the essentials then let a combination of the soap running down the drain and nature take care of the rest.

Meanwhile, at Chipotle

Not on Adele's watch

If you're planning on hitting up an Adele concert this month, and I know you are, keep the pride sucks comments to yourself. Or anything that remotely sounds like that, because it's not even clear that is what was actually said.

Adele heard what she heard, and she's not having it at one of her shows. She went off on the fan for whatever it is he said.

Hero.

Pizza Burgers and Hamburgers

- Gerard writes:

Sean,

Made some burgers the other night on the 12 year old gas Weber grill. (still looks and works like new…) The round burgers are pork burgers topped with pizza sauce, pepperoni, mushrooms, and mozzarella. We put these on toasted buns with butter and garlic salt…. The squares are just regular hamburgers but with pepper jack and colby jack cheese.

SeanJo:

These all look great. I've never had - or heard of, for that matter - pizza burgers. But I now I have to try one after getting a look at these bad boys.

Replacement grates for grills

- Andy in Texas writes:

I know you already picked some up but Great Grates https://www.grategrates.com/ can be configured to match any grill area.

SeanJo:

I'm a huge procrastinator. I picked up some disposable grill grate covers on Memorial Day because the Lowes near me was sold out of replacement grates.

I'll probably put off picking up a new grate, on account of the procrastination issues, until I run out of the grate covers. But when I do get around to it, I'm going to check these out.

Thanks for sending it my way.

Grilled meats

- Eric in Bloomington, MN writes:

Sean- you are doing a great job filling Joe's big shoes. Keep up the work.

You requested grill photos.... this past Saturday on a beautiful evening in Minnesota I took care of a co-worker and her family with 4 NY Strips and grilled scallops. (2 upper: medium, 2 lower: rare). The swallow of 15 yr old Dahlwinnie on the rocks (left side of the photo) says the food is done.... its time to eat.

SeanJo:

Anytime I'm able to fill in for Joe and give him some well-deserved days off, I'll do it.

You can't go wrong with NY Strips and grilled scallops. Keep the grilling season pictures coming my way I'd love to see what meats end up on the grill this summer.

Meat

- Ryan writes:

You asked for the meat pics Sean. Last weekend was a special occasion cook. Tomahawk steak smoked then seared in cast iron skillet. Sides were twice baked potatoes and lobster mac and cheese with some smoked deviled eggs.

A few buggers for the kids and some bread. We have a local custom butcher shop and restaurant that you can buy from so we choose to buy it and take it home and cook to save money and I actually enjoy the process a lot more. Keep up the good work with Joe taking a break.

SeanJo:

I did ask for the meat pics and I haven’t been disappointed at all with the responses. The Screencaps community knows how to hit the grill.

This is another great spread. Just like you can't go wrong with NY Strips, you can't go wrong with smoked meat either. Keep the pictures from the grill coming my way. Grilling season is just getting started.

That's it for this hump day. As always, the inbox is open. Send me what you've got cooking on your grill this week and whatever else you want to sean.joseph@outkick.com.
