Can Oracle correct what seems a wrong strategic direction since 2006? : A new alliance Against #IBM #RedHat! - In 2006, #Oracle made its own #Linux distribution based on recompiling RHEL's (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) source code. This strategy, made Oracle completely reliant on the availability of RHEL's source code by RedHat. - Oracle continued expanding its reliance on Oracle Linux, where it used it in running its #cloud infrastructure and engineered solutions.- Other companies took different approach. For example, #Amazon and #SUSE decided to develop an independent Linux distribution, resulting in OS that is not threatened by the availability of RHEL's source code.IBM/RedHat Move:----------------------June 21, 2023, #IBM/RedHat announced that they will stop the public release of #RHEL source code. This decision means that Oracle will no longer have access to the source code.Oracle, SUSE & CIQ response:-------------------------------August 10, 2023, Oracle, SUSE, and #CIQ have launched the Open Enterprise Linux Association (#OpenELA), where they will develop #RHEL compatible source code.OpenELAās impact on Oracle:------------------------------Through its contribution in OpenELA, Oracle will ensure continuity of it's operating system that runs Oracle cloud infrastructure #OCI and other critical services.OpenELAās impact on SUSE:-------------------------------- SUSE's participation in OpenELA seems to bring positive impact. SUSE's current independent Linux has unique features, however building OS that is compatible with RHEL is important, where it is being used by many organizations to run mission critical applications.- Suse offer #Rancher, a competitor containerization technology to RedHat #Openshift. SUSEās participation in OpenELA could support in providing organizations with a complete ecosystem. OpenELAās Risk on IBM/RedHat:--------------------------------- OpenELA could offer an alternative option to enterprises seeking RHEL compatibility.- OpenELA might introduce different pricing models or support options compared to Red Hat's subscription-based model.- Red Hat's established reputation, and ecosystem will play a significant role in how far this competition will go.At the end, as OpenELA initiative progresses, a clearer picture on the impact on Oracle, SUSE & RedHat may appear.

What to do with a lost SSH key, for a instance, first stopping the instance, detaching the boot volume, and attaching it to another helper instance. In the video they have a demo on copying the SSH keys into the lost instance boot volume with that helper instance. Note anSSH keyis an access credential in theSSH protocol. Its function is similar to that of username and passwords, but the keys are primarily used for automated processes and for implementing single sign-on by system administrators and power users. Then, detaching the instance from boot volume once again, and reattaching it to the original instance, with the copy of lost SSH key you should be able to gain access & control of the instance, link below to a video, this is video number three of three. #Oracle #OracleCloud #OracleCloudInfrastructure#OCI #CloudDevelopmentEnvironment #SSHkey #Cloud #CloudComputing #Linuxhttps://lnkd.in/emGiAbht
